Last week, I told you all about my favorite takeaway from Brendon’s event last month. And another epic takeaway was this: No matter what you desire to achieve, you’re probably only five steps away from your destination. {That’s exciting, right?!} Your big financial goals? Only 5 steps away. Your relationship dreams? 5 steps and you’ll be there. Your business targets? 1, 2, 3, 4, hello success!

Now, don’t get me wrong. Each one of these 5 steps may require a lot of work! Just because your goal is only 5 steps away doesn’t necessarily mean you’re going to reach it quickly. You must put in the time and effort to work the steps correctly and wholeheartedly. But accomplishing a goal is a much simpler than we often make it.

Why not try this process for yourself?

What’s one big goal that you’d love to see yourself achieve this year? Write it down.

Now write down the 5 steps you’ll need to take to hit the goal.

Here’s an example:

Goal: Grow my email list by 5000 beautiful souls.

  1. Choose Email Provider {I’m totally obsessed with Active Campaign, but there are lots of great options}.

  2. Develop a Free Offer {i.e. totally amazing content for my ideal clients -- something they’ve been asking for!}.

  3. Write an email sequence to give value to those who join my list.

  4. Set Up Facebook Ad to attract the perfect ladies to this Free Offer.

  5. Send out regular, valuable content to my new biz besties -- so they know how much I love them.

If you follow these five steps, you WILL grow your list! It won’t be easy, but it’s only a matter of persistence and time.

Now, here’s the fun part of the exercise! Brendon also encouraged us to socialize our learning. I’m a total introvert, so at first this sounded intimidating… I was obviously intrigued to learn what this concept of “socialized learning” really meant.

Here’s how it works: After you’ve written down your 5 steps to reach your goal, you ask 5 other people what 5 steps they would take to reach that same goal. You might be surprised by some of their answers!

So, for the goal we discussed above, if you ask your business colleagues for their 5 steps, the answers might look something like this:

  1. Pin posts on Pinterest to lead to your Free Offer.

  2. Speak on podcasts and refer people to your Free Offer.

  3. Place a pop-up on your website to lead to your Free Offer.

  4. Get on Facebook Live every day and talk about your Free Offer.

          5. Promote your Free Offer in Facebook Groups where promotions are allowed.

If you ask 5 people for their 5 steps, you can potentially end up with 25 additional ways to move toward your ultimate goal! It’s likely that some people’s answers will overlap, but you’ll definitely get some new and fresh ideas when you “socialize your learning.” As a bonus, there will be 5 people who can now keep you accountable to reaching your goal!

I’m definitely going to apply this concept of socialized learning as I work toward my big life and business goals this year.
