Have you ever gone through a productivity slump? You know, where you feel like you can’t really get motivated to do anything {#holiday vacation!!}?

I know I have!

In fact, this is something that I’ve personally been struggling with. Here’s what happens for me… when I get overwhelmed or when I get stressed, I end up wasting time on social media and then I’m even more frustrated at the end of the day because I can’t figure out what I’ve accomplished.

I vow to do more the next day, and then tomorrow comes and I end up in the same place again.

I can’t stand that cycle, so I created a solution that will help us both get out of our productivity slumps!

For the next 3 days, we are going to track how we spend our time.

Now if you know me at all, you know that I’m a really big planner. I always have a ‘to-do-list’.

And when I want to get organized in an area, I always end up creating some kind of a pretty printable and then putting it into Evernote {because I really end up doing everything in Evernote anyway}. But I always like to have a printable first, because there’s just something magical about writing things down.

For the next three days, every hour I’m going to write down how I spent my time.

If I spent 20 minutes perusing my Instagram News Feed instead of working on a productive business task, I’m going to have to write down “Played on Instagram”. If I spent an hour and a half lost in my Facebook News Feed, looking at my sister’s, husband’s, cousin’s, dog’s page and reading the most recent article about the red Starbucks cups or Donald Trump or the Kardashians or the Duggers {insert whatever scandal is going on right now}, I’m going to have to write it down.

{Side note: let’s just be real – this totally happened a few weeks ago… and I’m so bad! I not only read those dumb articles, I look at the comments and I read every single comment. And then I’m like ‘Oh, I totally agree with that person’ or ‘Oooh – that person is so out of line’ and I look up and it’s been an hour and a half!!}.

At the end of each day, I’m going to note the things that I did great and the areas I really need to improve.

Now let me give you one caveat – I’m not saying it’s not okay to have downtime. In fact, downtime is critically important to being balanced and to enjoying what you do. If we are totally scheduled all day every day, that’s a recipe for burnout and stress. I need downtime and margin, and when I’m not getting it, I think it’s really obvious – in my social media, to my friends, and most importantly, it’s obvious to my family.

But I also have to admit that I’ve been taking way too much margin recently… way too much downtime. I’ve been wasting some valuable time and then complaining at the end of the day that I didn’t get anything done, and staying up super late because I feel like I didn’t accomplish enough. And I think the truth of the matter is – I have time, but I’ve been wasting my time. {Thank you ABC family and Netflix… Hello, Christmas movies… seriously!}.

So if you’re struggling like I’ve been with staying motivated during the holidays… if you’ve been struggling with following your to-do-list or accomplishing actionable items… if you feel like you get to the end of the day and you’re wondering where your day went… then I want to challenge you to do this with me.

Let's Get Focused! Time Management Printable and Challenge #fitfluential

If you really want to get focused {and this is the month when most at-home business owners will stop doing what’s important} then I want you to email me your chart for the next 3 days. Show me how you did.  I will email you back and tell you how I did. If you know that you have to check in with me, and you have to write down that you just spent an hour on Instagram instead of doing productive business tasks and then you stayed up all night working, you’ll start to make a change.

This exercise is going to show us areas where we're really not spending our time well. And it might even show some of us that we’re spending way too much time working and not enough time in the margin… spending time with our family, spending that downtime and disconnecting.

If you need more accountability than this – if you get through the next 3 days and want more – then I want to encourage you to check in into my business building blocks course. It’s really where we get back to the basics every single day. Where we focus on the things that matter the most in your business. Now let's go print our productivity schedule and get started… I can’t wait to hear from you!!
