One of the things I just LOVE about my business is getting to connect with clients from different corners of the world. Recently, I’ve noticed a lot of you have been asking me the same question. “How do I make my ads more effective?”

It isn’t rocket science, but there are a few tricks of the trade that will help you get the biggest bang for your buck. Many of these tips aren’t exclusive to Facebook either, they can be applied to various platforms and campaigns such as:

·       Blog posts

·       Branding videos

·       Flash Sales

·       Product Demos

·       Webinars

If you’ve already been running ads they will probably have been a bit hit and miss. (Believe it or not, even I didn’t always get it right in the beginning).

This is actually a good thing! Use it as a learning tool.

Look at the offers that worked better than others, what did you do differently? Was it the content of your Ad? The graphics? Your targeting?

If you’re not sure, that’s fine, that’s probably why you’ve come to me (and I’m honored that you did).

Here are a few of the main things that I’ve identified as common themes among some of my clients that have come to me with the same issue.

Do your research.

Before you launch an ad (any ad or offer for that matter), you need to know who your audience is. Sounds simple, right?

But you’d be amazed how many times I’ve asked my clients who their customer is, and they can’t actually articulate it. You need to know your customer demographic to be able to accurately target the right people, otherwise, you’re just wasting your advertising dollars.

Make the right offer.

Now that you’ve narrowed down your audience, you need to give them what they want! The easiest way to know what your customers want is to ask them!

Don’t worry, people will be pretty quick to let you know what it is they want. (just like YOU told me that you wanted to know about how to convert Facebook ads!)

Under promise, over deliver.

This is important in all aspects of your business, but never more so than in your advertising. Don’t offer something that you can’t deliver on.

Limit your offer if you need to (this in itself can be a great marketing tool). If you make promises you can’t keep, it doesn’t matter how successful your ad campaign is because you won’t retain your prospects.

Keep it simple

If you don’t grab your customer’s attention the first 3 seconds, they’re likely to keep scrolling right past. Your ad needs to be bright and bold, but simple enough for your audience to get your idea in an instant.

You don’t want to confuse them or make them think it’s too complicated for them to follow.

Keep it Interesting

Similarly, you also want to make it interesting. Long, rambling posts that bore your reader won’t get you very far.

If content isn’t your strong point, you may want to consider out-sourcing. Your offer should be clear and concise, while conveying the important information that you want to get across.

Don’t be afraid of change.

“If you always do what you’ve always done, you will always get what you’ve always gotten”

There are a few schools of thought on this one. While some people advocate for letting your ad run its course, others will have you review it after 48 to 72 hours to monitor conversion rate and adjust if need be.

I recommend that you monitor your ad for 48 to 72 hours. Don’t make changes just for the sake of change, as every change will reset your ad. Instead, do your homework, sift through the data, decide what worked and what didn’t and make smart changes.

Most of all, don’t give up! Facebook Ads are an effective strategy for almost any business, and with the right attention and strategy, they can be a huge asset to your business.
